It is especially comforting to know that you can count on fast, reliable help from qualified SKIDATA Service Technicians at large events. This company, headquartered in Grödig near Salzburg and in Klagenfurt, Austria, equipped at least 50% of the stadiums for the 2004 UEFA European Championship held in Portugal and the 2006 FIFA World Cup held in Germany.

Dream Job SERVICE Engineer: Talking with SKIDATA Employees

We met up with Christoph and Johann, who also goes by the name Johnny, on the SKIDATA patio and asked them to tell us about their dream job and experiences at SKIDATA:

First of all, we love the diversity and variety of our job: first, you“re wearing a nice shirt and tie in a project meeting, an hour later you“re in your overalls at a job site, setting up electric and network installations, building machines, installing servers, organizing additional requirements, etc. A few days later, you meet your client again to train them on the system or provide live event support to make sure their event goes as smoothly as possible. It is a very special feeling when the gates open and the first spectators enter the stadium.

We had to deal with terrible weather conditions while installing the Westpac Stadium equipment in Wellington, New Zealand. Constant rain and wind speeds of up to 50 mph made our work incredibly hard. But we still managed to finish on time and the installation is still holding strong today! After such a challenge, you really look forward to a week of support at the Salzburg headquarters.

Team work is very important in service management – in addition to a great working environment in combination with the best technology, strong relationships within the team play a deciding role in this job. Everyone is on a first name basis! Johnny: „I definitely feel better at this job compared to my other jobs. There is no routine, every day is different and comes with new challenges and chances.“ Christoph: „And I didn“t think there could be a job out there that would combine my interest in technology, sport and travel while getting the chance to work with others. But I found it – in service management at SKIDATA.“
